Cyclone in Myanmar, leaving who knows how many dead, and hundreds of thousands of people homeless, hungry and vulnerable to the spread of disease.
Earthquake in China, killing tens of thousands, leaving thousands more homeless, leaving parents childless and children parentless. Now there's a very real threat of flooding from damaged dams giving way.
Wildfires in Florida. A week ago, some ten thousand acres had burned. With all the other big news, detailed information on these fires is hard to find right now. Arrests have been made, however, as it's suspected arson.
Tornados across the US, when tornado season hasn't even "officially" begun. Yesterday, a tornado believed to have been a mile wide flattened half a town in Colorado.
Wildfires consuming thousands of acres in California. Some 500+ firefighters battle to control it while hundreds (thousands?) evacuate ahead of it. Mudslides have also become a threat thanks to downpours in the same state.
Is it just me, or has the last month or so just been one enormous natural disaster? |

| Cloverfield, Ruined. |

Hey Gary. Yeah, you, Gary Cogill, film critic for WFAA Channel 8 (Dallas area ABC affiliate).
Thanks. A lot.
No, really, I'm impressed. You've clearly got balls of steel.
You must, since you just completely destroyed all the hype and mystery and curiousity the unique marketing campaign for Cloverfield has built up over the past months.
I was really looking forward to getting to see this film, impressed as I was by the unusual cinematography style and absolutely crazy marketing, let alone the incredible ability of those involved to keep leaks from getting out, something that, in the Internet age, is a near impossibility.
But since you've just spoiled the surprise and fun of discovering for oneself what actually happens in the film, I can't say I have much motivation to bother seeing it, now.
Way to thank me for trusting your opinions for the last sixteen years. |
